Piroska Péter – Hungary
I had been familiar with the name and activity of Kassai Lajos for a good while but it all seemed to dwell in a different, unreachable universe. I started approaching this world through my son’s horseback riding and when our family was expanding with a horse. The final thrust came to me in the form of a horseback archery show that I saw at the Savaria Carneval. It had such a powerful effect on me that I got into contact with the Kassai Equestrian Archery School the next day.
I joined the Tribe near to Pápa in 2014 together with my son. Under the guidance of Attila Németh I reached an advanced level from a complete beginner status and for this I am very grateful for him to this day. I developed a very deep and strong friendship with him and the other members of the tribe during the times we spent together while training, doing shows, attending competitions and going on treks. The activity that started as a hobby has grown into a lifestyle, it has started appearing in my everyday life, my actions and thoughts and I have slowly become a horseback archer. It is a special privilege and joy for me that I have been able to walk this path with the full support of my family.
I took my successful base exams in 2016 and since then I have been striving to perfect my technique. Thanks to the Original Kassai System (very precisely developed) results are trackable and comparable from as early as 1994 and an immediate feedback is given on one’s development.
Horseback archery is also a great way to get to know myself better. The connection with the horse is a good indicator of one’s relation to the outside world, while the archery allows me to go on an inner journey towards my deeper self.
With the observation of the physical, mental and emotional processes human automatisms, subconscious reactions and coherencies can be recognized.
I am studying and practicing the effect of the conscious thoughts and the imagination on the physical processes, acquiring very exciting experiences.
Equestrian archery, as a value mediator, helps facilitate the upsurgence and development of both inner (resilience, strength, readiness and accuracy) and outer values (honor, honesty, selflessness, self-sacrifice and helping each other). A great emphasis is put on the relationship of the individual and the community and on the interrelation of the two. The latter are two very scarcely visible values nowadays, however I believe that by developing ourselves as well as our communities we directly effect our environments (narrow and wide), thus we are able to hand on a better world to the upcoming generation.
In 2020 there was a change in our tribe leadership where I was asked to be the new leader of our community. It is a great honor to me to be part of the leadership of the world’s most famous equestrian archery school and I feel the immense responsibility that comes with it. Our tribe operates on the Hill of Traditions (Hagyományok Hegye) and our work is aided by six horses at the moment.
