Christoph Neugebauer – Germany
My father started breeding western horses in 2000. This was my first contact with horses. In 2007 I learned to ride with my friend and trainer Jens Vogt.
In 2010 my curiosity for our special sport, horseback archery, was awakened. An incredibly fascinating combination of two sports that obviously do not match.
Since I have very little free time due to my job, we had the idea to install a training track on our riding facility. Initially equipped with three targets.
We organized our first own competition in 2010. It was a great and educational experience.
This was followed by participation in various national competitions and in 2014 for the first time I visited t to the “Kassai Valley”. It was a great event and the impressions of this week stayed in my head for a long time.
Our competitions soon became a colorful mixture of beginners and high leveled, international competitors.
In the following years, the Waldrandranch developed into a place that feels like a family for all participants and friends. Together, the friends of the Waldrandranch support each other in achieving personal best performances, exchange experiences and learn together.
From 2014 to 2020 I was 1st and then 2nd chairman of the association “Die Steppenreiter”, the organization that represents the interests of the horseback archers in Germany and internationally.
On the Waldrandranch we soon started planning for the rotating target. We optimized the track and, after the successful licensing by Kassai Lajos, we organized our first KHOW competition in 2015.
So, in the year 2015 I got the license as an international judge.
Many friendships and great connections developed all over the world. Over 20 nations have participated in our tournaments in recent years and everyone who is as fascinated by this sport as I am, is always welcome!
